Mrs. Genevie C. (Behringer) Awe, age 87, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, entered eternal rest on Sunday morning, Dec. 25, 2005, at the care center.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jim Klein officiating. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.

Genevie was born Nov. 9, 1918 at Longwood. She was the daughter of the late Hugo and Edna Keopsel Behringer. She was a graduate of Owen High School, Owen, Wis. Genevie was employed locally at the Penguin Restaurant, National Tinsel Factory and SS Kreske's. She retried from Manitowoc Insurance Center. On Aug 21, 1940 she married Lester E. Awe in Colby. Genevie was a longtime member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

Genevie is survived by her husband of 65 years: Lester E. Awe; one son and daughter-in-law: Milford and Kathy Awe, Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Steve (Awe) Maddock, Tijeras, N.M.; two grandchildren; Peggy (Tom) Mushel, Manitowoc; Jill Awe, Duluth, Minn.; and her fiancé Adrian Staniflawski; one great-granddaughter: Samantha Johnson, Manitowoc: one brother: Harvey Behringer, Colby; one sister: Milda Talcott, Schofield; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was receded in death by her parents, two sisters: Edna Smith and Elda Waniger; three brothers: Merlin, Roy and Robert Behringer.

Her family will honor her with a celebration of her life on Thursday, Dec 29, 2005 at St. John's United Church of Christ with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
