Kleiman, Joseph (1829? - 5 MAY 1904)

Mr. Joseph Kleiman, an old settler of the town of Holeton, Marathon Co., Wis., died Thursday evening, May 5th, 1904, at 9 o’clock, at the age of 74 years. He is survived by two sons living on the homestead to mourn his loss, his wife having died last year and two daughters several years ago. The funeral took place last Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. Wm. Reding officiated.

We have no data for an obituary, but Adjutant Hutchinson of the G.A.R. Post, No. 112, of which Mr. Kleiman was a member, says the deceased came to America from Germany before the Civil War, that he enlisted on August 17th, 1861, in Co. D. 1st Wis. Cavalry, and was mustered our August 26th, 1865, and was known by his comrades as "Little Joe, The Fighter." After the war he settled at Stevens Point and about 1877 removed onto the farm in the town of Holeton, where he died. Mr. Kleiman was an industrious and honorable citizen and respected by all.
