Elchlepp, John (AUG 1886 - 22 JUL 1904)
Mrs. Wilhelmina Elchlepp received word early Friday morning that her youngest son John had drowned at Rhinelander Thursday evening. It seem that John went bathing immediately after eating supper and was taken with cramps, drowning in four feet of water before help could reach him.
John was born in the town of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., Aug. 1886 and would have been 18 years old next month. He went to Rhinelander to work in April 1903, and boarded with his sister, Mrs. Geo. Gray. At the time of his death he was working with the steel gang on the railroad.
He leaves, besides his mother, seven brothers and three sisters to mourn his early departure from this life.
The remains were brought home Saturday, and the funeral was held from the residence Sunday, the interment taking place in Colby Cemetery.
