McCarthy, William H. (27 OCT 1832 - 22 AUG 1904)

Died, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Rupert in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., on Monday at 10:30 a.m., William H. McCarthy, in the 69th year of his age.

Wm. H. McCarthy was born in Ireland, Oct. 27, 1832. He came with his parents to America in 1845. He enlisted in Co. G. 14th Regt., Mich. Vol. Infantry, April 1st, 1862, and was mustered our July 13th, 1865. He was married to Elizabeth Fairbother at Palmyra in 1865, and lived there until 1876, when he removed to the town of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., where he lived on the homestead until about 15 years ago when he removed to the city. His wife died twelve years ago and the remains taken to Palmyra for burial, since which time he has made his home with his daughters. He has been in poor health, in fact sick, for the past three years.

He leaves to mourn him two sisters, one brother, and four children, Mrs. Cora Hardie of Cedar, Mrs. Frank Rupert of Colby, Mrs. Sarah Collins of Fifield, and Miss Tillie McCarthy of Ashland.

The remains were taken to Palmyra, Tuesday, to be laid beside those of his wife, and were accompanied by his daughters, Mrs. Rupert and Miss Tillie.
