Hertz, Carl (13 FEB 1827 - 20 DEC 1904)
Carl Hertz of the town of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., died at the home of his son William in Edgar, Wis., where he had been visiting, Tuesday forenoon, Dec. 20th, 1904, from an illness incident to old age.
Carl Hertz was born at Belling, Germany, Feb. 13th, 1827; he came with his family to America in the fall of 1873 and settled in Dodge Co.; removing in the fall of 1877 onto the farm in the town of Colby, where he has since made his home.
He leaves to mourn his death, three sons: Charles of Colby, William, Edgar, and John of Park Falls, and two daughters,, Mrs. H. Brehm of Athens and Mrs. Frank Firnstahl of this city.
The funeral will be held from Zion Lutheran Church, Friday at 1 o’clock p.m., conducted by Rev. Lugenheim, the pastor. The remains will be interred in Colby Cemetery beside those of his wife who departed this life eleven years ago.
