Gerdes, Lena (21 JUL 1858 - 30 MAY 1935)

Mrs. Lena Gerdes, nee Breitenstein, was born July 21st, 1858 in Pittsburg, Penn. On Oct. 17, 1887 she was united in marriage to J. B. Gerdes at Custer, Wis. She died at 8:00 A. M. May 30th, 1935 at Spokesville, death being caused by paralysis.

Mrs. Gerdes lived in Loyal for several years, Mr. Gerdes being depot agent here from 1905 to 1909. During1909 they moved to Spokeville going into the general mercantile business. Mr. Gerdes passed away October 10, 1919.

The deceased is survived by two sons, Carl, Spokeville, and Arthur, Waterloo, Ia. A daughter, Mamie died in 1912, and two son, John and George, died in infancy. Other survivors are two grandchildren, two brothers, A. W. Breitenstein, Stevens Point , and R. G. Breitenstein, Stockton, Wis., two sisters, Miss Louise Breitenstein, who made her home with Mrs. Gerdes at Spokeville, and Mrs. Mary Eiden, Stevens Point.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 A. M. by Rev. Schaffer at St. Stephen’s Catholic church at Custer and burial was made there.
