Many friends of district attorney elect Parkhill are urging him to reverse his decision to remove to Neillsville in January next and to remain a resident of this village, conducting the affairs of the office from here or through an assistant at Neillsville, Wis. During the past ten years whenever the presence here of the district attorney was requested by letter or telegram he has almost always declined to come pleading urgent business, sickness, &c, and requesting the justice to hold the examination and bind prisoner over if the facts warranted so doing. Several times, by request of the justice, complainant or district attorney Mr. Parkhill has gratuitously appeared for the State when by refusing so to do he might have accepted a retainer from the defendants. Mr. Parkhill's practice here annually brings him more than the salary of the district attorneyship and we hope this fact will cause him to retain his residence at Thorp.
