Irvine, Eliza V. "Grandma Irvine" (14 Dec. 1848 - 26 Feb. 1935) [First name and death date was taken from the cemetery index.]
A host of relatives and loyal friends have joined in mourning the passing of Mrs. W. S. Irvine, who passed away at the Irvine home in Owen Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. Although 86 years of age, Mrs. Irvine, known affectionately to many as "Grandma Irvine" had been in good health until about a week ago, when she was stricken with a bowel obstruction, resulting in her death.
Funeral services were held Friday, with a short service at the Irvine home in Owen late Friday morning, proceeding then to Loyal, where the regular funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. N. Chapman of the First Methodist Church of Loyal. Burial was made at Pine Grove Cemetery near Loyal.
Mrs. Irvine was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Roscoe of West Bend Township, Washington County, Wisconsin, having been born Dec. 14, 1848. She came to Clark County in 1870, and in 1873 was married to W. S. Irvine. From 1873 until 1913 they resided on the same farm in the town of Beaver, moving in 1913 to Loyal. In 1920 they removed to Owen and have made their home there since.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Irvine is survived by two sons, David A. and John J.; both of Clark County. Two sons, Bertram and Casper, preceded her in death. Surviving her also are two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Stowe of California, and Mrs. Rosa Frazier of Loyal. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Irvine was possessed of a great faculty for making and holding friends as witnessed by the many who join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. She had been a member of the Loyal Methodist Church since 1871. - Owen Enterprize.
