Hemp, Louis Herman (7 Aug. 1887 - 1935)
Louis Herman Hemp was born on Aug. 7, 1887, in the Town of Pine Valley. Here he attended the Mound school until he moved to this city with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hemp, in 1905. He received his religious instructions by the Sainted Rev. H. Brandt, and was confirmed in the year 1908 in an adult class. Mr. Hemp entered the estate of holy matrimony with Miss Emma Krejci on April 22, 1914. This union was blessed with three sons, one son, Leon, preceded his father in death on June 27, 1920, at the age of five years.
About six years ago the departed was compelled to resign his position at eh Deep Rock oil station on account of ill health. Though the best of medical care was given him, yet the physicians soon pronounced that an incurable sickness had fastened itself upon him. He became and invalid and was care for by his beloved ones with untiring and patient efforts. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hemp shared life’s journey for 20 years, 11 months and 14 days. Last Saturday morning at 2 o’clock he departed, closed his eyes in death, having attained the age of 47 years, seven months and 29 days.
He leaves to mourn his early departure his widow, two sons, Warren and Marvin; his father, Mr. Fred Hemp; one sister, Mrs. Helen Jahr, one brother, William Hemp; all residing in our city. He also leaves a large number of other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rev. Wm. Baumann officiating.
