McAllister, Marguerite (28 JUN 1905)
A very pretty wedding occurred this morning at 9 o’clock at the St. Thomas pro-cathedral, at which time Miss Mary Marguerite McAllister of this city was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Gerrard J. Kaudy of Colby, Clark Co., Wis.. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion, the altar being a bank of ferns and palms. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Gallagher in the presence of the many friends of the bride and groom.
Amid the beautiful strains of the wedding march from Lohengrin, as rendered by Miss Maude Gordon, the bridal party entered the church. The bride, attended by Miss Mary McNally of Chicago, a cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid, was escorted to the altar by her brother D.J. McAllister of Chicago, the entire party being led by the ushers, Charles McConnon and Thomas Considine. At the altar they were met by the groom and his best man, Joseph Kraus of Colby, Wis. The bride’s twin brothers, Robert and Clement, and six altar boys assisted in serving mass. The singing during the services was very beautiful. The party marched out of the church while the Mendelssohn wedding march was being played by Louis Jung. During the mass vocal solos were rendered in a beautiful manner by Miss Vida McLaughlin and Miss Lenore Hilbert.
The bride was gowned in a handsome dress of white French lawn trimmed with lace and carried a bouquet of bride’s roses and wore a white lace hat. The bridesmaid wore a pale blue dress of silk mull with a pale blue hat and carried pink roses. Following the services at the church the wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride, 719 Indiana Av. Mr. and Mrs. Kaudy left on the 12:06 Milwaukee passenger train for Colby, their future home.
Miss McAllister is a prominent young lady of this city and for the past eleven years has been a member of the St. Thomas choir. She was also a teacher in the public schools of the city for the past five years. She has a large circle of friends who extend to her their best wishes. The groom is a businessman at Colby, being in charge of a fixture factory at that place. They were the recipients of many handsome presents.
Those attending the wedding from out of the city were D.J. McAllister of Chicago, John McNally and daughter Mary of Chicago, M.T. Meister of LaCrosse, Miss Mayme Gallagher of Ridgeway, Nicolas Kaudy of Stanley, Wis., and Mathias Kaudy and Joseph Kraus of Colby, Wis. (Winona Daily Republican-Herald, June 28)
Mr. Kaudy and his bride arrived in Colby Saturday evening and immediately began housekeeping at their residence in the Frome building opposite Dr. Freeman’s. Gerrard Kaudy is a lifelong resident of Colby; in wishing him and his bride heartiest congratulations and future happiness, the Phonograph reflects the sentiments of his many friends.
