Wilson, George E. (August 23, 1897-October 8, 1993)
George E Wilson, age 96, died Friday October 8, 1993, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday followed by full Military rites at the Town of Weston Cemetery near Christie. The Rev. John Brouwer of the United Methodist Church of Neillsville will officiate. There will be no visitation.
George was born August 23, 1897, in Neillsville, to Rueben and Estella (Brown) Wilson. He received his education in Clark County rural schools.
He worked in farming as a young man. He enlisted in the Army and served overseas in Germany from 1917 until July of 1919. He operated grocery stores in Detroit, MI, after returning from World War I. He entered the Army again and served in World War II and was discharged in 1943. He then worked in the Graham-Page CO for several years and re-entered the grocery business in Detroit.
He moved to Wisconsin and lived in Christie for a while and in 1961 he moved to Milwaukee to manage an apartment house. Some years later he entered the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, where he lived until the time of his death.
Surviving are nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
