Hamann, Fred (? - 8 FEB 1908)
Fred Hamann, one of the six pioneers who, with their families, settled in what is now the town of Wein, Marathon Co., Wis., 40 years ago this coming spring, died at his home in that town last Saturday, Feb. 8th, 1908. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Hamann was chairman of his town for many years, besides filling nearly every office in the town during his long residence in the county. He was well along in the seventies.
The writer was acquainted with the deceased for nearly thirty years, and at many times listened to the interesting narratives he would relate to those gathered around him of the trials and incidents experienced during the first few years of pioneer life in Marathon County.
