Lund, Clara Louise (22 Feb. 1889 - Nov. 1935)
Clara Louise Fads was born on Feb. 22, 1889 in the city of Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Fads. She attended the city schools and graduated from high school with honors. She taught very successfully for three years in her home community.
She was married to Hans Lund in 1914 and they made their home in Iowa until 1924 when they moved to Neillsville, Wis. Here the family spent sometime on a farm and later Mr. Lunk worked at his trade of blacksmithing. It was for this reason the family moved to Hixton in 1930, where Mr. Lund has followed his trade and where the deceased lived until she entred the Krohn hospital for an opearation for ruptured appendix, which was pefromed on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 7, by Doctor Robert Krohn. At first she seemed to be doing nicely but on Sunday evening she turned for the worse. The doctors and nurses did everything to bring her through the crisis but to no avail and on Tuesday morning at one o’clock she passed to her reward.
Mrs. Lund was a faithful member of the Lutheran Chruch and Ladies’ Aid, serving as president for several years. She was also a member of the Study Club. The past year she served as vice-president of the club. She took great interest in all social activities. She was very attached to her family and home and by her winning ways she made many friends both young and old. She was known as "Mamma Lund" to all the youngsters who loved to spend an afternoon at her home.
She was a true wife, mother, friend and neighbor and will sadly miss by her loved ones as well as a host of friends.
She leaves her husband and four children: Her parents, six brothers and one sister having preceded her in death. She is survived by three sisters, Emma Fads of Sherwood, North Dakota; Mrs. George Karrow of De Forest, Wis.; Mrs. John Ones of Osage, Iowa, and three brothers, Thomas and Edward of Sherwood, North Dakota; and Olaf of Charles City, Iowa.
Pallbearers were: Mr. Harry Chenoweth, Al Lewison, Clyde Pratt, Nels Stromberg, Fred Dean and Lew McDermid.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones in their great loss.
The funeral was held Friday Nov. 15, at two ‘clock, in the Evanglical Lutheran Church in Hixton. The body rests in the cemetery in Hixton.
