Sturm, Joseph (1871? - OCT 1910)

On Thursday evening last, Joseph Sturm suffered an attack of appendicitis. Saturday and Sunday morning his condition became alarming. Sunday afternoon he was taken to the Hilbert Hospital by Drs. Knauf and Bolton, where he was operated upon by Dr. Quick of Appleton.

He rallied from the operation and there was every hope of his recovery until Tuesday, when other complications set in and from which time he failed gradually until Thursday night, at 11:30 o’clock, when he passed away. It was generally known throughout the town on Wednesday and Thursday that the case was hopeless, but his friends, and they are many, hoped against hope that his condition might change for the better until Thursday evening, when his family was sent for and it was reported he was dying. The tolling of the bells early Friday morning announced that the end had come. Mr. Sturm was thirty-nine years old, and was one of Chilton’s prominent young businessmen. The funeral wil be held Monday morning from St. Mary’s Church. (Chilton Times)

The deceased was a brother-in-law of C. Jos. Kraus and Mrs. G. C. Kersten of this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), and a cousin of Wm. Will of the town of Colby, and the three went to Chilton to attend the funeral.
