Robert Lehnherr of John H. Keel Studios at Colby was awarded a ribbon of
excellence on two direct color portraits he produced at the Wisconsin
Professional Photographers Association Convention held in Milwaukee March 21 –
23, 1971.
The portraits were "Pals," a portrait of Terry Robida and her kitten, and "First
Born," a portrait of Mrs. Russell Palmerton and daughter, Tami. The prints are
now on display at Colby.
The convention, held at the Pfister Hotel, featured the diamond jubilee of the
association.
Yousuf Karsch, Ottawa, Canada, one of the world's recognized greats in portrait
photography, was the convention's featured speaker. He gave his philosophy of
portraying people from all walks of life in his pictures.
About 600 photographers from Wisconsin and neighboring states were in attendance
at the convention, and technical sessions, which featured displays of
photographic equipment, supplies, and processing equipment.
