McCaffery, Anna (20 OCT 1858 - 6 MAR 1935)

Anna Jerard, daughter of Wm. And Dorcas Jerard, was born at Therese, Jefferson Co., N.Y., Oct 20, 1858, and died at her home in the town of Thorp, Clark Co., near Stanley, March 6, 1935. She came with her parents and sister, Jeanette, to Elroy, Wis. in 1865. On May 14, 1874, she arrive with her parents and sister in what is now the town of Thorp, where she has resided ever since. In Nov. 1877 she began teaching her first term of school in what is now the Eidsvold district. She taught several subsequent terms there and also in the Wright District, now the Pioneer school in the town of Worden.

On April 2, 1883 she was married to Michael McCaffery, who died several years ago. One daughters, Hazel, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Philip of Everett, Wash., and William of the town of Thorp; three daughters, Jeanette of the town of Thorp, and Julia (Mrs. August Ehlert) of the town of Reseburg, and Dorcas (Mrs. Chas. Schuebel) of the town of Edson, Chippewa Co., several grandchildren and one sister, Miss Jeanette Jerard of the town of Thorp.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. G.W. Vaughn in the M.E. Church at Stanley, Friday at 2 p.m., with interment in the Stanley Cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Everett Starks, Lawrence Hiller, Harvey Thompson, Henry Hanson, Jos. Wagner and Arthur Saumuelson.

Among those from out of town who attended the services were; S.E. Warner of Stevens Points, S.S. Warner and Mrs. Susie Allen of Thorp, Mrs. C. Bragg and Mrs. P. McDonald of Gilman, and Mrs. Abi Tunison of Jump River.
