Plombon, Josephine Florence (15 September 1916 – 5 August 2011)
Josephine Florence Plombon, 94, of Stanley died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 at her
apartment under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice at the Homeplace.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1916 in Foley, MN the daughter of the late Vincent and
Mary (Wisniewski) Plombon. Her family moved to Stanley in 1925 and she has
resided there since. Jo graduated from Stanley High School and worked numerous
jobs including a cashier at "the Dime Store", was a part time librarian
assistant and was a caregiver for her mother Mary until her death. She was known
for her detailed stories of times long ago, her patience, generosity and her
faithful devotion to the Holy Family Catholic community.
Josephine is survived by her sisters, Lorraine Skalecki of Downers Grove, IL and
Evelyn Tait of New Braunfels, TX; one brother, Julian (Willette) Plombon of St.
Paul, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Helen Latterell,
Genevieve Bilski, Mary Horn, Meg Wilhelm and infant sister, Rozella; two
brothers, Severyn and Lawrence "Bud" Plombon.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Holy
Family Catholic Church, Stanley. Father Joseph Raja will officiate. Burial will
follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45
a.m. on Tuesday at the Plombon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Stanley
Historical Society.
