Roth, George Jr. (15 OCT 1915 - 6 NOV 1995)

Colby - George Thomas Roth Jr., 80, of Unity died Monday, Nov 6, 1995 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov 10, 1995 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Town of Colby, Clark County. Father John Malik will officiate.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov 9 at Community Funeral Home in Colby. A parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

George was born Oct 15, 1915 in Milford, Iowa to George and Estella (Hemphill) Roth. He moved to Loyal with his family in 1918. He attended St. Anthony's Grade School and Loyal High School. George married Bernice Martens on June 29, 1943 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby.

He worked for O.W. Tindal Co. and operated a gas station in Loyal until he bought a farm south of Unity in 1943. He farmed until his retirement. George was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church.

George is survived by his wife, Bernice of Unity; five sons, Verlyn (Linda) Roth of Madison, Glen Roth, of Unity, Jerold Roth of Unity, Neil (Rhonda) Roth of Colby; six daughters, Eileen Roth of Milwaukee, Joan (John) Laabs of West Bend, Marlene (Jim) Paul of Portland, Ore, Verjean (Dave) Van Hammond of Stevens Point, Carolyn (Rick) Golz of Dorchester and Mona Roth of Wausau, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and three brothers, Raphael (Rita) Roth of Whitefish Bay, Virgil Roth of Butler and Joe (Ora Lee) Roth of Mason City, Iowa; three sisters Margaret Foster of Goleta, Calif., Rita (Connie) Foster of Butler and Lorretta (Bob) Heiting of Wauwatosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leonard and Donald, one sister Bernadine and twin grandsons, Shawn and Jeremy in infancy.
