Kuzjak, Paul (16 June 1900 – 9 November 1982)
Funeral services were held on Friday morning, November 12, for Paul Kuzjak, a
Ukrainian immigrant who make his home in the Neillsville area for the past 29
years. Kuzjak, 82, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday
afternoon, November 9.
The Very Rev. Nikolai Hodynski officiated at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox
Church in Lynn. The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville was in charge of
arrangements. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Serving as
pallbearers for the funeral service were the deceased’s sons and grandsons.
The deceased was born on June 16, 1900, in the Ukraine to Myron and Vera
(Trochanky) Kuzjak. After his education, he worked in textile mills and farmed.
During this period, he married Olena Jahn in June 19, 1932, ceremonies.
In 1949, the Kuzjak family moved to the United States. They first farmed in
Pennsylvania for a short time and then moved to Chicago where he worked in the
steel mills for three years. In 1953, the family move to the Town of Pine Valley
where he farmed the remainder of his life. He was a member of Holy Trinity’s
congregation.
Surviving him, besides his wife, are three sons, Victor of Neillsville, Valentin
of Marshfield and Mick of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. David (Helen) Counsell of
Greenfield and Mrs. John (Maria) Dorsey of Eau Claire; a brother, Anton,
Ukrainia; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
