Dassow, Harold J. Sr. (12 NOV 1927 - 25 MAY 2019)

Harold J. Dassow, Sr., 91, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab, surrounded by family, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Harold was born on November 12, 1927 to Henry and Bertha (Barkow) Dassow in Medford. He attended Frey School. After school he worked on the farm until retirement in 1997. He married Mary Ann Kraemer on May 10, 1947; she survives.

In his spare time Harold enjoyed farming, logging, gambling, shooting darts, watching deer, playing cards, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by his children, Joseph (Lynn) Dassow of Phillips, Mary Lou (Duane) Anderson on Medford, Judy (Gary) Weir of Medford, LeRoy (Jeanette) Dassow, Sr. of Medford, Ronald (Sharon) Dassow of Medford, Mark Dassow of Medford, Jane (Hoss) Ostrowski of Kronenwetter, Carol (Tom) Judnic, of Medford, Lanny (Debra) Dassow of Medford, Sara (Todd) Ruesch of Medford, and Laura (Steve) Larson of Stratford; 31 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Arnold Dassow of Medford; sister, Darlene Drager.

In addition to his parents Harold is preceded in death by his son, Harold “Sonny” (Betty) Dassow, Jr. brothers, Hilbert, Alvin, Clarence, Robert, Sr., Donald, Ralph, and Hank Dassow; sisters, Elaine Gums and Ardella Dohrwardt.

A Memorial Mass for Harold will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Whittlesey at 11:00 AM; with Father Phil Juza officiating. Visitation will take place at OLPH on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation in Harold’s name may be given to the family for use at a later date.
