Schwedeland, Henry (22 NOV 1859 - 12 JUN 1938)

GREENWOOD, Clark Co., Wis. - Funeral services for Henry Schwedeland, 78, who died Sunday morning, June 12, 1938, at 6 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Lavendowska, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Schiller Funeral Chapel. The Rev. C.R. Gaylord, pastor of the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church at Greenwood, conducted the rites. Burial was made in Columbia.

Death was caused by diabetes. Mr. Schwedeland having been in poor health for a number of years. He was seriously ill for the past three weeks, but had spent considerable time in bed before this period.

Mr. Schwedeland was born Nov. 22, 1859 in Germany. In 1898 he came to the United States and settled in the Columbia community. His wife, Minna, died in June 1924. Since then he spent some time with his children in Chicago and Milwaukee, but for the past four months he had lived with Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Lavendowska, 5 miles southwest of Greenwood.

Surviving are five children, Alfred, Bruno, Edwin, Bertha and Leo.

Pallbearers were: Arthur Syth, Earl Tompkins, Leo Stanley, Hugh Christie, James Syth, Vivian Carteron. Mr. George Haeuser and Mrs. Harold Stabnow accompanied by Miss Mabel Bishop at the piano, sang several selections at the services.
