Gierl, Frank (1842 - 7 FEB 1911)
Died, at his home in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., at 4:30 Tuesday morning, Feb. 7th, 1911, of heart failure, Frank X. Gierl Sr., aged 68 years, 5 months and 15 days.
Frank Gierl was born in Bayern, Germany in 1842. He came from that country in 1873, direct to Milwaukee, where on May 3rd, 1876, he was united in marriage to Catherine Winker. In 1878 he came to Colby and resided one year in the village, when he moved onto the farm, near the city, where he died. He was an honest, hard working man, highly respected by all who knew him. Besides his widow he leaves nine sons and four daughters, all of whom reside here except two, Robert and Mary. The children are: John, Frank, Louis, Robert, who is in Washington, Joseph, Albert, Kilian, George, Ernst, Katie (Mrs. F. Lukowicz), Ida (Mrs. L. Lukowicz), Mary (Mrs. J. Dietrich), Milwaukee, and Anna. He also leaves one brother, Robert, and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. H.J Artman officiating.
The out of town relatives who are here to attend the funeral are, Mr. and Mrs. John Dietrich of Milwaukee, Mrs. Mike Steindl and Miss Katie Steigenberger of Fond du Lac.
