Johnson, Mr./Mrs. Arthur (Gold – 7 JUN 1971)
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Duluth, Minnesota were pleasantly surprised while
visiting here at the Milton Meske and Fred Meske home by a 50th wedding
anniversary celebration Sunday, May 16 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Fred
Meske.
Mr. Johnson was born in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, and came to this area in
1906 with his parents. He attended school in the town of Holton (Marathon Co.
Wis.), what was then the Rosedale School. Later the family moved near Curtiss
(Clark Co.). His wife, the former Irene Blanchard, was born and grew up in the
area of Oshkosh. She was a school teacher and taught school in Curtiss, thus
finding her husband there. They were married in Oshkosh June 7, 1921. They went
to Virginia, Minnesota to live, he was a mechanic, and lived there until about
33 years ago, when they moved to Duluth They have one son, Russell, Medford,
Oregon, and seven grandchildren. Those attending the celebration were a brother
and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Johnson, Holcombe, a sister and her husband,
Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Borgemoen, Chelsea, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Meske and Dennis and
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Klemetson of Cutiss, Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller, Abbotsford,
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Singer, Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Krause and son,
David, Westboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sulik, Abbotsford, and several other
guests from Oshkosh, Curtiss and Colby.
