Bradbury, Mary Elizabeth (Marriage - 12 Feb. 1936)
The marriage of Miss Mary Elizabeth Bradbury of Bremerton, Wash.; and Lieut. Samuel K. Groseclose of Annapolis, Maryland, whose engagement was recently announced, took place at the home of the bride’s parents, Lieut. Commander and Mrs. Warren E. Bradbury, of 1907 6th St., Bremerton, Wash., Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1936, at 3:30 p.m. Chaplain Workman officiating. The ring ceremony was used; 16 guests were present.
The wedding march, Ave Marie was played by Mrs. Hunt at the piano with a violin accompaniment by Mrs. Haynes.
The maid of honor was Miss Anne Kingsbury, daughter of Col. And Mrs. Kingsbury, U. S. M. C., and Lieut. W. W. Rockey, U. S. N., Bremerton, was best man. The bride was given away by her father.
She wore a white lace dress and carried a colonial bouquet of white roses, lilies of the valley and for-get-me-knots. The bridesmaid wore green taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet of old fashioned flowers. The fireplace in the home was banked with white flowers, and the tables were all in white and silver. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents, which was attended by about 80 guests.
The bride was born in Neillsville, and has been from time to time during visits of her parents to relatives in Neillsville, Wis. Through this acquaintance and friendship for her parents, there exists a lively interest and admiration for this young bride and hopes for her future happiness. She traveled widely with her parents when her father was sent on naval cruises by the government or was located in the far outposts of the colonial possessions or foreign stations. She completed her high school course at Shanghai, China; took course in the National School of Art, Washington, D. C.; in 1934, and attended Choenard’s School of Art at Los Angeles, Calif.; in 1934-1935.
The groom is the son of Mr. S. K. Groseclose of Virginia. He is a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, and at present he has charge of the Naval Radio station at Annapolis.
Immediately after the ceremony the bride and groom departed for the east and will be at home to their friends after March 1st.
