Guinther, Christian (13 May 1844 - 13 Feb. 1936)

Christian Guinther passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Batsch, Thursday morning, Feb. 13 at the age of 91 years, 9 months.

The funeral was held Monday at 1:30 o’clock from the Gilbertson funeral home, and then taken to the Granton Zion’s Lutheran Church. Burial in the church cemetery; Rev. Arthur Laesch officiating.

He was born in Germany, May 13, 1844, and was married to Miss Bertha Grottke Feb. 27, 1870.

They came to this country in 1883 lived at Hortenville, 1 year, then came to Grant, where they lived 2 years. He then purchased an 80 acre piece of wild land which they worked and cleared and where he was still living.

Five children were born to them. Two died while they were still in Germany. Caroline died at 10 years of age and William died last May.

His aged wife and daughter, Anna, Mrs. Herman Batsch and one grandson Elmer Guinther survive him.

Pallbearers were Otto Yankee, August Reimer, Ernest Kuier, Albert Bentz, Griff Williams, and Charles Wiesner.
