Griggs, Jack (17 AUG 1905 - 25 MAR 1912)
Jack, the little seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Griggs, who reside on the Oliver Yerkes farm 2 ½ miles south of the city, accidentally fell into a boiler of hot water while playing in the woodshed last Monday evening at about 5 o’clock, and received burns that caused his death Tuesday midnight. No one was in the wood shed with him when the accident happened, but his first cry brought Mr. Griggs to his assistance. Dr. Christofferson was called and did everything possible to relieve the little fellow’s suffering.
It is supposed that Jack removed the cover of the boiler, which fit very tight, and when the hot steam came pouring out, tried to replace the cover and fell in. The right arm and right side of his body and limb were terribly burned.
The family has the deepest sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
The funeral will be held from the residence this Thursday afternoon, Rev. Wm. Marsh officiating.
