At four o’clock Monday afternoon this community was shocked by news of the death of City Clerk Charles S. Vedder, at his home on Second St. , the resident sof the city feeling the shock in the nature of a public calamity. While Mr. Vedder’s death occurred by his own hand, it was at a time when he was unquestionably suffering from momentary derangement due to the strain of overwork. (Marshfield Times)

The sad news of Charles Vedder’s death was also a shock to his many Colby, Clark Co., Wis. friends.

The funeral was held in Marshfield, Wednesday afternoon, under the auspices of the Odd Fellows, of which Order he was an old and honored member.
