Standeven, Richard “Dick” E. (13 DEC 1946 - 30 MAY 2019)
Richard “Dick” E. Standeven of Abbotsford, passed away on Thursday, May 30,
2019, at Marshfield Medical Center.
A celebration gathering will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9,
2019, followed by a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling
Funeral Home in Abbotsford.
Dick was born on Dec. 13, 1946, the son of Ealon and Catherine (Bratton)
Standeven in Minneapolis, Minn. He graduated from Edina High School in Minnesota
and received a bachelor’s degree from Bemidji State University. On June 5, 1971,
Richard was united in marriage to Cynthia Bird in Minneapolis.
Dick taught industrial arts for 19 years at Abbotsford High School. He then
started his own photography studio, R.E.S. Photography, which he operated for 30
years. Dick enjoyed sailing, woodworking, skiing, tennis, cooking, reading,
table tennis and traveling. He started a photo club, was a storyteller and told
many jokes. Most importantly, Dick cherished his family.
Dick is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cindy; two children: Robert (Veronica)
Standeven of Chippewa Falls and Heather (Chad) Hemquist of Blaine, Minn.; three
grandchildren: Riley Standeven, Braden and Hannah Hemquist. He is further
survived by his sister, Susan Standeven; nieces and nephews; other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
