Gloff, Emma (Marriage - 23 June 1936)

St. John’s Lutheran Church was the scene of a pretty wedding, when John Willis Schaefer of Milwaukee and Miss Emma Gloff of Neillsville were united in the holy bonds of matrimony at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 1936. Rev. Wm. A. Baumann officiating. The double ring ceremony was used.

The groom was attended by Ernest Gloff, brother of the bride who acted as best man, also by Ezra Schaefer the groom’s brother. The groom’s sister, Miss Edna Schaefer, of Baraboo, was maid of honor and Miss Ida Grottke, a close friend of the bride, also attended her as bridesmaid. Mendelssohn’s wedding march was played by Erich Sievert, principal of St. John’s Lutheran School. "Take Thou Our Hands and Lead Us" was sung by Rosalie Stelter, Bertha Stelter and Bertha Gloff.

The bride was given away by her step-father Herman Gloff, Herbert Grottke and Frederick Stelter were ushers.

The bride wore a lace dress with train and veil; a Juliet cap with orange blossoms and carried calla lilies. The maid of honor wore yellow and the bridesmaid aqua marine massline de souir and both carried snapdragons and larkspur.

A bountiful wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents, about 75 guests being present.

The home was decorated in blue, yellow, and white, with white wedding bells.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Schaefer of Baraboo, Wisconsin. He is employed as a salesman with headquarters in Milwaukee. He is a graduate of the Baraboo High School and was attended the University of Wisconsin. Although he is not widely known here he is highly spoken of by all who knew him.

The bride grew to womanhood here and graduated from St. John’s Lutheran Church. Since she finished school she has been engaged in housework. She is a young lady of fine personality and has many friends.

The young couple will reside at 1232 W. Madison Ave., Milwaukee.

The out of town guests were: Mrs. Elmarine Schaefer from Baraboo, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Schaefer, Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Schaefer and family all of Baraboo, Wisconsin; Wm. Schaefer and daughter, Lillian, Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Schaefer and family, Black Hawk, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Glese and family of Loganville, Wisconsin; Miss Gertrude Walters of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Anderson and family, Duluth, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Schaefer, Viroqua, Wisconsin; Miss Bertha Gloff, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Misses Emma and Alvina Stelter, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schuelke, Marshfield, Wisconsin.
