Happle, Margaret (24 AUG 1846 - 15 MAR 1913)

Mrs. William Happle, for thirty-seven years a resident of Colby, Wis., died at her home on Saturday, March 15th, 1913, aged 67 years, 6 months and 21 days.

Margaret Eisert was born to Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Eisert in Germany, Aug. 24th, 1846. At the age of seven years she came with her parents to America, and settled in Manitowoc County, Wis. On Feb. 20th, 1871, she was united in marriage to William Happle in that county. In April 1876, she moved to Colby with her husband and has since made this place her home. She was a hardworking woman and helped her husband carve out a nice farm home in the town of Hull, Marathon Co. near the city limits. For the past eleven years she has been an invalid and blind. Besides her husband she leaves three children, Peter of Ashland; Mrs. Peter Demmer of Porter, Wash. And Mrs. Wm. Harry of the town of Colby, Clark Co., to mourn the death of a kind and loving wife and mother. She also leaves to mourn her death two sisters, Mrs. John Orth of the town of Colby, and Mrs. Peter Phillips of So. Kaukauna.

The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday morning, at 10 o’clock, and was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends.

The relatives from abroad who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Happle of Ashland; Mrs. Peter Phillips of So. Kaukauna; Mrs. John Miller of St. Nazianz; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Engeldiner of Marshfield; Mrs. Chas. Elchlepp of Chili.
