A pretty little ceremony was performed at St. John’s Church in the town of Wein, Marathon Co., Wis., on Monday, Feb. 3rd, 1913, when the Rev. Karl Schmalz pronounced the words that united Miss Martha Giese and Rev. Martin J. Stricker in Marriage.
The church decorations consisted of white hyacinths and myrtle. The bride was attended by the Misses Elizabeth Schmalz, Minnie Giese and Mathilda Hoernke, and the groom by Messrs. Henry Giese, Theophil Diemer and Christ Langholtz. The bride was attired in white silk and wore a veil held in place by yellow roses and ferns. She also carried a large bouquet of carnations and roses. The bridesmaids were also dressed in white and carried bouquets of carnations.
After the ceremony the guests were received at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Giese, in the town of Frankfort, Marathon Co., where an elaborate wedding dinner was served. One of the features of the evening were the vocal solos rendered by Miss Hoernke, Mr. Wilhelm and Martyn, which were very much enjoyed by all.
Among the out of town guests were the Misses Bertha Brown and Elizabeth Schmalz of Wausau, and Messrs. G. Wilhelm, T.E. Diemer, Christ Langholtz and H.E. Giese of St. Paul, Minn. The latter are college chums of the Rev. Stricker who is a graduate
