Funeral services for Carl Ludwig Kessler, whose death occurred Aug. 22 at the home of his sons, John and Frank in the Town of Weston, were held Tuesday at 9 [word here is blurred] from St. Mary’s Catholic church, Odo Zimmerman, O. S. B. conducting the rites. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mr. Kessler was born June 20, 1860 at Baden, Germany, coming to this country with this parents John and Mary Kessler at the age of 7. On January 14, 1885 he was married to Miss Agnes Hanker, at Spillville, Iowa, eight children being born to this union. Twenty-five years ago they moved to Clark County where they have made their home ever since. From 1917 to 1930 they lived on a farm in Pine Valley, moving to the town of Grant in 1930 where they remained a year at which time they moved in with their sons in the Town of Weston.
Mr. Kessler was an excellent farmer, a man of fine character and devoted to his family, and deeply interested in his church. During the past year he became ill and for the past several months was in a serious condition, but throughout his sickness, he was a patient and quiet suffer.
Surviving children are John; Louise, Mrs. Frank Miller; Carl; Loney, Mrs. Baltz Hoesly, Loyal; Frank and Irene, Mrs. Henry Andusky, Weyauwega. Two children preceded him in death. Surviving also are 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Those from out of town who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Barney Clave, and daughter, Eleanore, and Mrs. Kate Houdek, Orson, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rothmeyers and two grandchildren, Louis and Pauline Albert, Festina, Iowa.
