The city of Medford moved closer to low cost housing for the aged and low income
families last week when the city council approved an application for workable
program certification to the US department of housing and urban development
(HUD).
“We are poised for action in providing hosing in Medford,” commented Mayor
William Van Laarhoven Sr. this week. “We await only approval from HUD to go
ahead with the project so badly needed in the city.”
The workable plan eliminated the immediate need for a comprehensive plan which
is a time consuming and costly project. The city will be eligible for applying
for federal funding upon approval of the 20 page plan by the regional office of
HUD.
