Seffrood, Rev. Dale G. (29 MAR 1933 - 7 APR 2019)
Rev. Dale G. Seffrood, 86, formerly of Curtiss, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at
St. Williams Care Center in Milbank, S.D. A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church, South Wayne.
Dale Gilbert Seffrood was born March 29, 1933, to Lester and Elsie (Meier)
Seffrood in South Wayne, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. He graduated from high
school in 1951 and University of Wisconsin Madison Farm Short Course, 1952. As a
young man, he also worked on the Alaskan railroad, built silos in the Madison
area and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58.
He received a BA in English from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1963, and
Master of Divinity at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., in 1967. Dale and
Eunice were married May 21, 1967. Rev. Seffrood and his family served Lutheran
parishes in Houston, Minn.; Berthold, N.D.; Maddock, N.D.; and Curtiss – St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church and Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Holway, rural Medford
– his mother Elsie’s childhood home church.
Rev. Seffrood is survived by his wife, Eunice, Milbank, S.D.; three children and
six grandchildren: son Paul and Julie Seffrood and Olivia of Huntington Beach,
Calif.; son John and Annelies Seffrood and Sophia, Samuel and Elsie of Twin
Brooks, S.D., and daughter Mary and Dan Milinko, Max and Benjamin of Wheaton,
Ill.; five brothers: Wesley (Marian) Seffrood of Darlington, Harold Seffrood of
Gratiot, Lawrence (Phyliss) Seffrood of Freeport, Ill., Willard Seffrood of
Sandpoint, Ind.; and Donald Seffrood of South Wayne; along with brother-in-law,
Alfred Lee, of Rice Lake; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Tappan) Lee of Menomonie; and
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen (Seffrood) Nenneman;
infant sister, Gladys Seffrood; brothers-in-law, Donald Nenneman, Jacob Lee and
Kenneth Lehman; and sisters-in-law, Darlene Seffrood, Anne Seffrood, Charlene
(Lee) Lehman and Frieda (Mani) Lee.
