Loy, Eunice Emeroy (25 July 1851 - 10 Dec. 1936)

Eunice Emeroy Shepard, daughter of Plyna H. and Eunice A. Talbot was born at Royalton, Windson County, Vermont, July 25, 1851 and passed to her reward Wednesday morning, December 10, 1936 at Hixton, Wisconsin.

At the age of eleven months she with her parents came to Monroe, Green County, Wisconsin where she grew to womanhood and was married October 25, 1868 to Andrew W. Loy of that place.

Two daughters were born to this union, Retta Eunice and Florence Ellen who with her husband have long since preceded her in death. Two step children, Margaret and Sylvester Loy have long since passed to their reward.

During the summer of 1870 the family moved to Neillsville, coming here with the early pioneers at the time when there were only 15 dwelling houses in Neillsville, Wis. Hers was a real life of pioneering.

She lived to see the vast forests of Clark County grown into beautiful farms. She with her family and a party of friends and neighbors made two trips to Kansas with a covered wagon, but the greater part of her life was spent at Tioga, Wisconsin.

"Grandma Loy" as she was lovingly called by all who knew her has made a wide circle of friends. She was a member of the Methodist Church and her devot ** [blurred letters here] t faith has ever been an inspiration to those with whom she has made her home.

She leaves to mourn her departure three granddaughters, namely, Mrs. Viola Dunn of Greenwood; Mrs. Florence Lehamn of Eau Claire and Mrs. Vera Dean of La Crosse. Two grandsons, Guy Loy of Beloit and Ralph Bigelow of Thorp, and also nine great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday at the Schiller Funeral home at Neillsville with Rev. Longenecker in charge. Interment was made at the Weston Cemetery.
