Logwin, Walter (2 September 1937 – 23 June 2019)
Walter Logwin, 81, of Neillsville, died Sunday, June 23, 2019, at the
Neillsville Care and Rehab Facility.
Walter Logwin was born September 2, 1937, in a small village in Ukraine. He was
the son of Peter and Katerina Logwin. His family moved to Germany during the
war. At age 17, Walter came by ship to America. He lived in Pennsylvania until
he moved to Chicago, where he worked at a furniture factory. He saved money to
buy a farm in Wisconsin, where he later brought his bride, Claudia Logwin, in
1975. They farmed together for many years, and then both took jobs in town.
Walter is fondly remembered for his excellent care of the Neillsville Hospital
grounds until his retirement in 2002. During retirement, he enjoyed working in
his large garden, feeding the birds, listening to his classical music, and
fishing on occasion. Walter was a man of faith and attended services at Living
Hope Evangelical Free Church in Neillsville.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Logwin, a sister, Lydia Dodte (Neillsville),
and nieces and nephews, Walter (Beth) Taylor, Lydia (Jim) Johnson, Lily (Mike)
Woo, Linda (Tony) Woo, all of McHenry, IL, Tommy (April) Dodte of Black River
Falls, Ruth (Steve) Moser of Neillsville, Jonas (Molly) Nazaruk of CO, Ruth
(Jim) Hornbrook (Mexico City, Mexico) and Rebecca (Neal) Charleston (West
Chicago, IL).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Olga Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the
