James Rust, 64, Greenwood, died on Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood on Thursday, April 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Robert Olson will officiate. A private family burial will take place at Greenwood City Cemetery.

James Donald Rust was born on April 28, 1941, in Spencer, to Herman Sr. and Florence Faye (nee Collins) Rust. When he was a young child, his family moved to a farm just south of Greenwood, where he was raised and received his education. After completing his education, he worked at Midland Co-op, Greenwood, delivering fuel and as a mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from Nov. 8, 1963, until his discharge on Oct. 26, 1965, and then in the Army Reserve until Oct. 31, 1969. He returned to Greenwood in 1965, and continued working at Midland Co-op. He was united in marriage on June 3, 1967, to Kathleen Ann Frederickson at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Owen, Wis. In 1978, he went to work at Clark Electric Cooperative as a heavy equipment operator. His wife died on March 3, 1997. He married Ann Gardner on Aug. 8, 2003, in Greenwood. He continued to work ay Clark Electric until the time of his death. He was a member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood, a past member of the Greenwood Lion’s Club, a former member of the Greenwood American Legion Post #238, was formerly a volunteer fireman for the city of Greenwood, and was a member of the Clark Electric Cooperative Union. He had many interests, but especially loved being with his family, 4-wheeling, hunting, being outdoors, plowing snow, building engines, tilling gardens, and helping others.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ann, Greenwood; three daughters, Kelly (Paul) Zirbel, Marshfield, Kristan (Doug) Denk, Weston, and Kara (John) Johnson, Weston; one son, Kurt (fiancée Jaime Belgram) Rust, Weston; two step-daughters, Kristin Hinker, Greenwood, and Sara (Jim) Ingold, Greenwood; one step-son, Mark (Tami) Gardner, Willard; 15 grandchildren, Alex and Olivia Zirbel, Jack and Owen Denk, Austin Bucholtz, Clair Johnson, Amber and Darian Woller, Hayden and Morgan Hinker, Haley, Jacob and Riley Gardner, and Lucas and Lauren Ingold; and two sisters, Betty Lou Bogdonovich, Willard, and Elain (Dale) Rizzolo, St. Charles, Mo.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Kathleen; two brothers, Richard Rust and Herman Rust, Jr.; and two sisters, Darlene Dodge and Ruth Faber.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given in his name.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
