Garbush, Florence Ione (19 Feb. 1919 - 20 Dec. 1995)

Florence Ione Garbush, 76, Loyal, died Wednesday December 20, 1995 at St Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held at 11 AM on Friday December 22, 1995 at the Loyal United Methodist Church. Reverend Steve Groves officiated. Burial was in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton. Pallbearers were Doug Cox, Bill Sisson, Fred Cox Jr, Urs Grossenbacher, Jurg Grossenbacher, and Franz Grossenbacher.

Florence Ione Garbush was born on February 19, 1919 in the Town of Loyal to Albert and Clara (nee Retzlaff) Garbush. She received her education at Loyal High School, Medford Normal School, and Eau Claire State Teachers College. She taught in central Wisconsin country and grade schools for 18 years. She also taught Citizenship class from the age of 18 until 1993 and night classes at Eau Claire Technical College. She was a freelance journalist for several area newspapers until her death. She starte the Clark county Historical Society and was President for 10 years. Her hard work got the Society on the National Register. She was very interested in the history of Clark county. She enjoyed genealogical research which she did for many area families. She was a Certified Fair Judge and judged at several area county fairs. She taught piano and was historian for Loyal United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Harlow Garbush, Louisiana; one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Rinka Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Hi,

I'm also trying to locate a copy of this book. My father has a really old copy which we grew up reading and my sons love it but the book is getting to flimsy for them to touch, so I would love to know if anyone has found it.  Thanks Renee
