Mae E Ott, age 96, Marshfield, formerly of Chili, died Monday, February 6, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Mae was born April 24, 1909 in Calumet County, a daughter of Edward L and Julia (Hacker) Ott. The family moved to the Chili area in 1919. Mae attended and graduated from Granto0n High School in 1928. Miss Ott attended Neillsville Normal School in 1930 beginning her 45 year career as a Professional Educator. Mae graduated from UW Stevens Point Teachers College in 1951. She retired from teaching in 1974.
Mae was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, Chili, and a member of the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school at church for forty years. She enjoyed reading, correspondence and helping with the Ladies Aid.
Mae is survived by her sister, Verna Swenson of Marshfield and many cousins. Preceding Mae in death were her parents and two sisters, Leah L and Hazel I Ott.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Chili. Rev. David Crail and Rev. Mary Ann Conklin will officiate. Gerri Mast will serve as organist. Burial will be in the Immanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until service time Wednesday February 8, at the Church. Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Memorials in Mae’s name may be designated to the American Cancer Society or the United Methodist Church of Chili.
