Valeria V. Teclaw, age 84, of Thorp, WI, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019,
surrounded by the support and love of her husband and children as she was
welcomed into heaven. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July
1, 2019, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp, with Rev. Baskaran
Sandhiyagu officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later
date. Visitation was held on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Thorp Funeral Home from 3
p.m. to 7 p.m., with a 6:45 p.m. rosary service. Visitation was also held at the
church, on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of
service.
Valeria "Val" Klick was born on August 29, 1934, in Thorp, WI, to John and Pearl
(Kmieciak) Klick and spent the early years of her life on the family farm with
her five siblings. After high school she married Raymond "Ray" Teclaw on June 2,
1952, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp. They then moved to Minneapolis
and together raised five children.
In 1992, Val and Ray retired and returned to Thorp to a shared family
condominium complex they designed and built with two of Ray's sisters and one
brother, which is a gathering place for many family special occasions and
celebrations.
Val was an incredible homemaker that included being a fabulous cook and home
handy woman. She had many talents including drawing/painting, ceramics, had a
beautiful singing voice, and an amazing "green thumb." She was a skilled and
loving caregiver for her immediate family and grandchildren, in addition to her
brother Bob and sisters-in-law Angeline and Lillian. She was indeed a "wonder
woman." Most importantly, she was a woman of faith, an incredible wife, mother,
grandmother and great- grandmother; she was the best!
She was a member of the Thorp American Leg Auxiliary, Parish Council Catholic
Wopien (PCCW), Polish National Alliance (PNA), and founding committee member of
Thorp Pumpkin Fest. While living in Minneapolis, Val was a member of the Ladies
of Columbus, Holy Rosary choir, and Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Her work
experience included Royal Ann China in Minneapolis, and an election worker in
Thorp.
She is survived and will be missed by her heartbroken family: husband, Raymond,
of Thorp; five children: Judy Dahl of Apple Valley, MN, Michael (special friend
Katherine) Teclaw of Thorp, Roger (Dottie) Teclaw of Minneapolis, MN, Karen
Teclaw of Minneapolis, MN, and Bob (Peggy) Teclaw of Alexandria, MN; 13
grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters and brothers-in-law; many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings: Frank, Ervin, Mary,
John and Robert.
The family is ever-grateful for the care of her primary medical provider, Peter
Gintner, PA-C; Drs. Muhammad Muslim and Dean Delmastro of the Marshfield Medical
Cancer Center in Eau Claire; Dr. Jon Potter and the many caring staff members of
Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire; and the Ascension Our Lady of Victory
Hospital emergency staff in Stanley.

Raymond M. Teclaw, age 90, of Thorp, died on Monday, February 5, 2024, at home surrounded by the support and love of his children as he was welcomed into heaven.
Raymond Michael Teclaw, “Ray”, was born on March 29, 1933, to Mike and Verna
(Stroinski) Teclaw, the ninth of twelve children, four sisters and seven
brothers. Ray attended Sterling School and graduated from Thorp High School in
1951. After graduation Ray worked for Gangler Dairy with home milk delivery and
Plautz Brothers hauling gravel. Ray married Valeria (Val) Klick on June 2, 1952,
then moved to Minneapolis, together raising five children.
Ray was
employed by Dayton Rogers Manufacturing beginning in June 1952. In 1970 Ray was
elected President of AFL-CIO, Amalgamated Local 1140 and served until 1982. In
1982 he was appointed as the National Representative of International Union of
Electrical Workers, District 11 responsible for Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri,
Arkansas and Louisiana serving until his retirement in 1991. While living in
Minneapolis, Ray was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Holy Name
Society, Knights of Columbus, Sons of the American Legion, and Moose Lodge.
In 1991
Ray and Val retired and in 1992 returned to Thorp to plan and build a shared
family condominium complex they designed and built with two of Ray’s sisters,
one brother, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law, a gathering place for
many family special occasions and celebrations.
As a
resident of Thorp, Ray served the community in many ways including: Dairy Days
committee member, Polish Heritage Days planning committee, Highway 29
Partnership committee, City Council member from 2003 to 2012, member of the Sons
of the American Legion, member of the Clark County Economic Development
Corporation, board member for Thorp Fire and Ambulance Department from 2003 to
2014, member of the Moose Lodge, member of Thorp Historical Society, President
of the Thorp Area Senior Citizens Association, and fall festival conception and
inaugural committee member of Thorp Pumpkin Fest.
Ray is
survived and will be dearly missed by his heartbroken children and their
families: Judy Dahl, Apple Valley, MN; Michael (special friend Katherine)
Teclaw, Thorp; Roger (Dottie) Teclaw, Minneapolis, MN; Karen Teclaw,
Minneapolis, MN; and Robert (Peggy) Teclaw, Arlington, Texas; 11 grandchildren
and 3 great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; brothers Richard and David,
sisters-in-law: Carol Teclaw, Nancy Teclaw and Pearl Lake; many nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings
Florence, Leon, Angeline, Marcie, Malen, Norbert, Alois, Lillian, Marion, and
his beloved wife, Val.
The
family is ever-grateful for the compassionate care by his primary medical
provider, Peter Gintner, PA-C; Dr. Katie Spangler, Dr. Sunday Olatunji, Dr. Jon
Potter, Dr. Logan Kiekhafer, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospice and Mayo Clinic Health
System Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at St. Bernard - St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp, WI with visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will be at New St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Heidi E. McGhee, age 64, Withee, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Marshfield Medica Center.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Born October 13, 1959, Heidi was raised in the Waukesha area by Kenneth and Caroline (Amidon) Jorgensen. Following her schooling she found work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in real estate for a while before finding her true passion of being a mom. Heidi was an avid helper and supporter of her local community. As “the neighborhood mom” her presence was a safe space for more than just her own children.
She is survived by her children Thomas Rooney and Danielle Espinoza, her
siblings Michael Copeland, Lalynn Copeland, Melissa Jorgensen, Sheila Jorgensen,
and Kenneth Jorgensen Jr. She is further survived by two grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather.

Dianna
Lynn Wood (Dede), age 57 of Granton, passed away 1/31/2024 at home surrounded by
many who loved her. She is a beloved partner, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt
and friend.
No services to be held, celebration of life to be determined later.
Dede was born 4/24/1966 in Milwaukee. She had attended the Lincoln High School,
Alma Center in 1984. Dede had met her partner in crime Robert (Bob) Kohl in
2009. She loved to take all of her grandkids camping and fishing all the time.
She and Bob loved going to Jackpine and Blue Grass yearly. Dede was a woman who
loved life and everything in it. She was always ready for the next adventure.
Dede is survived by her 3 children, Andrea Wood of Granton, Patrick Wood of
Loyal and Leanne Wood of Marshfield. She is further survived by her
grandchildren, Cameron Wood, Kayden Prior, Keyontae Johnson, Davonte Johnson,
Braelynn Stumpner and Holly Wood. Her sisters Laura (Sonny) Prewitt of Granton,
Carla (Jon) Henaman of Spencer, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Brooks and Hazel Wood, Carl and
Jenny Batura. Her parents Rex and Jean Wood. Her grandson Tristen Lee Farly and
nephew Matthew Wood.

Rebecca L. Diedrich, a 1976 graduate of Neillsville High School, has graduated
from the vehicle and generator mechanics course at the U.S. Army Ordinance
Center and School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
The course provides instruction for non-commissioned officers to supervise and
perform maintenance on systems and components of light wheeled vehicles.
During the 12-week course, students were also given instruction on power
generator equipment repair.

Memorial Hospital Assistant Manager, Doris Bakker, capped the new Red Cross
Volunteer, Bonnie Eisentraut at the start of the regular Wednesday afternoon
program in the recreation room of the nursing home. Sally Sadowska, recreation
director, presented Bonnie with her volunteer pin and name plate pin. The
program for the afternoon was a sing along with Wilfred Galstad accompanying at
the piano.

Brandon Grady, so of Glen and Cheryl Grady, 209 West 14th Street, Neillsville,
has been accepted to attend the sixth annual Science Summer Institute on the
University pf Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus July 8-19, 1985.
The two-week institute is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Eau
Claire-Extension-Education and the Eau Claire Area Association for High
potential of aspiring young scientists, 12-16 years of age.
Brandon is enrolled in Beginning Computers, on of 12 courses offered. Each
course include 50 hours of instruction and laboratory and enrollment in each
course is limited to 18 students. Courses this year include astronomy, medical
biology, chemistry, geology, physics, psychology veterinary medicine, and four
levels of computers.
“The emphasis of all our courses in on the laboratory and ‘hands on’
activities,” says Dr. Juanita Sorenson, director of the institute. “The courses
offer unusual opportunities for students to develop their full academic
potential and to be inspired by working with outstanding scientists from the
university and the community.”
Students must be recommended for the institute by two teachers or advisors. This
year more than 200 students from 90 communities in 10 states will study at the
Science Summer Institute.

at St. Mary’s parish for family, friends, and member of the parish. A dinner
honoring Frank and Ann Helwig was held at the Yellow Rose Café on Saturday.

Brian D. McCombie, a native of Willard, is one of 25 students to have been
designated as the first recipients of awards of excellence by the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s new Academy of Letters and Science.
The academy invited faculty in the College of Letters and Science to select two
students from each of the 13 departments who “exhibit characteristics we would
expect of our future leaders.”
Brian, a junior in the department of English, is a 1977 graduate of Mount
Clemens High School. His current home address is 1900 Monroe Street, Stevens
Point.
John Regnier, president of the organization, which is comprised of professional
people in Central Wisconsin, said it “is interested in identifying students who
possess the ability not only to address today’s problems, but of even greater
importance, appear to have the potential to make significant contributions to

Army National Guard Pvt. James E. Sayles, son of Bonnie K. and Eugene A. Sayles
of Rt. 2 Greenwood, has completed one station unit training (OSUT) at the U.S.
Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia.
OUST is a 12-week period which combines basic combat training and advanced
individual training.
The training included weapons qualifications, squad tactics, patrolling,
landmine warfare, field communications and combat operations. Completion of this
course qualifies the soldiers as a light weapons infantryman and as an
indirect-fire crewman. Soldiers were taught to perform any of the duties in a
rifle or mortar squad.
Pvt. Sayles is a 1980 graduate of Thorp High School, at Thorp, Wisconsin.

Stuve, Steven (Award - 1985)
Steven Stuve has been awarded a teaching assistantship in the physics department
at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. His duties begin with the fall session.
He will also be attending graduate school there, working on a PHD in theoretical
physics. He was the recipient of a P.A.C.E. (premium for academic excellence)
scholarship for the 1985-86 school year.
Steve received his bachelor’s degree from the UW-River Falls on May 26, where he
graduated with honors.
He is married to the former Lynn Flagel, of Rib Lake, and is the son of Glenn
and Nelda Stuve of Humbird.
