Halushka, Bohdan (October 22, 1922 - December 15, 2005)
Bohdan Halushka, age 83, of Poughkeepsie, NY, formerly of Neillsville, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.
Bohdan was born October 22, 1922 in Permyshl, Ukraine, son of the late John and Maria (Bossak) Halushka. He came to the United States in 1951 to Piqua, OH, then moved to Chicago, IL and later settled on a farm in the Neillsville area. Bohdan continued to make learning a life-long journey. Since the 1990’s he began taking classes at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, graduating with six degrees. "It’s an attitude", Halushka said of his penchant for life and learning. "Education is not a place to get to, but a route, I’m on a path and enjoying the scenery".
Bohdan is survived by four children, Air Force Staff Sergeant Steffen Halushka of Fort Walton Beach, FL; John Halushka of Bend, OR; Zenia Zach, of Poughkeepsie, NY; Maren Beauchesne of Boston, MA; and two grandchildren, Garrett and Kyra Zach; brother, William Halus of Anaheim, CA and his sister, Ola Kruczak of Los Angeles, CA.
Bohdan will be laid to rest at the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Robert H Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 S Grand Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
