OWEN RESIDENT DIES AT AGE 93
OWEN--Mrs. Henrietta Vater, 93, Owen, died following surgery at 9 a.m. today at Beaver Dam Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home in Owen, Wis. The Rev. Robert Goessling, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate and burial will be made in the Riverside cemetery at Withee.
The former Henrietta Scheonsiegel was born Sept. 10, 1870, at Plymouth, and received her education there. Her marriage to Robert Vater, who preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1964, took place Nov. 11, 1893 at Plymouth.
After their marriage, the couple lived at Plymouth until1900 when they moved to a farm north of Withee. Later they moved to a farm, 1 1/2 miles south of Withee, which remained their home until three years ago, when they moved to the Havenet Nursing Home at Owen, Wis. Since Feb. 1, 1964, Mrs. Vater had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Niles Moody, at Madison. Mr. and Mrs. Vater celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Nov. 11, 1963.
Mrs. Vater was a member of the Methodist Church at Withee, a charter member of the WCCO and a member of the Homemakers Club at Longwood.
Survivors include three sons, Arnold Vater and Carl Vater, Withee; and Neil Vater, route 1, Owen; three daughters, Mrs. Niles (Ruth) Moody, Madison; Mrs. Raymond (Alice) Jones, Randolph; and Mrs. L. Norveil (Gladys) Woodburn, Elmhurst, Ill.; a niece, Mrs. Charles Golddhammer, Elkhart Lake; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
