Neillsville – Graduates Receive Bryant Scholarships (2019)
The Edwin E. and Janet L. Bryant Foundation of Stoughton has announced the
latest recipients of its scholarship program.
Neillsville High School alumni Brady Coulthard and Dakota Watton each received a
scholarship.
The Bryant Foundation scholarship program is administered by Scholarship
America. It was created to assist former students of Stoughton High School and
the high schools of all Wisconsin communities where Nelson Industries, Inc. has
had a manufacturing presence, including Neillsville, Black River Falls, Mineral
Point, Viroqua, Bloomer, Wautoma, Arcadia, Muscoda and Montello.
Stoughton was the corporate headquarters for the company until its sale in 1998.
Edwin E. Bryant, a benefactor of the Bryant Foundation, was founder, Chairman
and CEO of Nelson Industries until his death in 1972.
“The Bryant Foundation board wishes to acknowledge the importance of all the
locations which helped in the company’s success by offering scholarships in
these communities,” wrote Beth Turbes of Scholarship America in a press release.
Renewable scholarships of up to $12,000 annually are offered to full- or-
part-time students at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
Preference is given to nontraditional students who did not go directly to
college after high school and who want to attend college or are currently
enrolled in college. Awards may be renewed for up to five additional years or
until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
