Beyer, Augustina "Justine" (1856 - 18 April 1937)

**Justene Puttkamer was born in Germany in 1856, and came to America with her parents when a young girl. They lived for a time at West Bend, Wis., and then moved to Clark County.

June 25, 1875, she was united in marriage with William Beyer and settled on land in the town of Pine Valley, which they developed into a fine home.

In 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Beyer and eight of their children moved to Oregon, living on a farm a few years, and then moving into Portland. During the years following Mr. and Mrs. Beyer made frequent trips back to Wisconsin to visit their children living here.

After living here for four years Mr. Beyer died January 25, 1928.

Mrs. Beyer came back here in 1934 and returned to Portland in 1936, and was under a doctor’s care constantly after arriving there. For the last five years of her life she was confined to her bed, passing away at 5:20 p.m., April 18, 1937.

The body was brought back here for burial, funeral services being held at the Pine Valley (Beyer) Lutheran Church Monday, May 3, Rev. J. Buth officiating. Burial took place in the church cemetery. For many years Mrs. Beyer had been an active worker in this church, and had been a very helpful woman, not only in her own family, but also in the community.

She is survived by the following children: Hilda, Mrs. Earl Phillips, Vancouver, Washington; Bertha, Mrs. Theodore Linster, Town of Weston; Clara, Mrs. Ben Wagner, Neillsville; Ida, Mrs. Wm. Wagner, Neillsville; Oscar Beyer, Portland, Ore.; August Beyer of Globe; William Beyer, Pine Valley. She leaves also a half-brother, August Dux of Pine Valley, 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The pallbearers at the funeral were six grandsons: Alfred Wagner, Carl Wagner, Theodore Linster, Theodore Wagner, Elmer Beyer and George Beyer.

**This is the way the first name was typed in the original obituary.

*Beyer Lutheran Cemetery is now called North Pine Valley Cemetery, Pine Valley.
