Almon H. McCarty, a prominent farmer of Longwood, died Friday afternoon from the effects of a kick by a farm horse he was harnessing the previous afternoon.
His sister, Mrs. Ed Bowen, heard his moans and going to the barn, found him lying prostrate. Hailing a passing car, she had him taken to Withee and from there he was taken to the LeGault hospital in Owen, where he died.
Mr. McCarty, who was 63 years of age, had lived practically all his life at Longwood. He was a son of the late John McCarty, for many a prominent member of the county board. Deceased himself, had been active in public affairs, being a member of the Democratic County Committee, a member of the Longwood School Board and had often taken part in many other community activities.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Allen, of Waupon, and Justin at home; three daughters, Mrs. Howard Farwell; Lansing, Mich.; Charlotte, at Whitehall, and Elizabeth, at home; one brother, Haskell McCarty, of Rockford, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Ed Bowen, of Longwood.
The daughter, Charlotte was a patient at the LeGault hospital and had been operated for appendicitis shortly before her father was brought in there.
