Cornell, Dorothy Emma (Wachsmuth) (22 FEB 1925 - 4 MAY 2019)
Dorothy Emma Cornell, 94, died on May 4, 2019. Funeral services will be held on
Saturday, May 18 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ladysmith.
Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m. prior to the memorial talk at 2 p.m.
There will be a future announcement regarding a remembrance for Dorothy to be
held on Aug. 3, 2019 at the Jump River Community Center.
Dorothy was born on Feb. 22, 1925 in Owen to Emil and Kathryn (Samson)
Wachsmuth. Dorothy married Ray Cornell on Sept. 8, 1945 in Hannibal. Together
they worked the family farm while raising their 12 children. As a long time
resident of the Gilman community, she was known for her kind generosity,
supportive care, community service, her skill in the kitchen and quilting. She
loved to stay connected with her family, neighbors and friends.
Dorothy is survived by 10 children, Sandra, Steven (Carolynn), Pamela, Timothy
(Kathleen), Kenneth (Dinah), Nancy (Gene), Theodore, Bradly (Leslie), Dewey
(Judy) and Kelly (Pat); 34 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; five
great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Leo.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; two children, Marc and Carol; and
12 brothers and sisters.
