Virgie Mattson-Clark, age 89, of Curtiss, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019
at The Waterford in Colby under the tender care of hospice.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 17th at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church in Curtiss. The Rev. Ken Schmidt will officiate. Interment will
follow at St. Paul’s Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome
from 9:00 am until time of the service on Friday. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral
Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Virgie was born on February 16, 1930, the daughter of Milo and Milla (Borgemoen)
Lott in Curtiss. She moved with her parents and twin sister, Verla, to Chicago,
IL, where she attended grade school and just starting high school when her
parents moved again to Eau Claire. There Virgie attended Memorial High School
for two years before the family moved back to Curtiss. She finished her last two
years of high school at Owen-Withee, where she met the love of her life, Robert
Mattson. They married in 1949 and raised two children, Rhonda Buss and William
(Toni) Mattson.
Bob and Virgie owned several businesses including the Spot Bar in Owen and the
Welcome Inn Motel in Medford, where Bob passed away in 1979. She married Frank
Clark in 1995 and they were later divorced.
Virgie is survived by her children, Rhonda and Bill; her sister, Verla Stange;
five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her
brother-in-law, Harold Stange and her granddaughter, Alexi Mattson.
