Mund, Viola M (31 December 1894 – 24 May 1975)
Funeral services were to be held Wednesday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic
Church for Mrs. Viola M. Mund, 80, of Memorial Home, who died Saturday, May 24.
The Rev. Donald Klauke of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili, was to officiate
with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Rosary was recited Tuesday
evening at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, where the body of Mrs. Mund was in
state.
Born December 31, 1894, in Marathon City to John and Elizabeth Gassner Bauer,
she was educated in schools there and worked in that area for a short time. Her
first marriage, which took place in 1913, was to Frank Sonnentag, who died in
1945. She was married to Byron Mund in 1954. Mr. Mund died in 1966.
Mrs. Mund moved to Neillsville in 1915 and spent the rest of her life here. A
member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of its PCCW, she passed away following
a lingering illness.
Survivors include five children: Mrs. Elizabeth Zschernitz of Neillsville,
Francis Sonnentag of Osage, Ia., Jacob Sonnentag of College Place, Wa., Thomas
Sonnentag of Berlin and Mrs. Allen (Mary) Engum of Neillsville; one sister, Mrs.
Augusta Mueller of Janesville; and eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren
and five great-great-grandchildren.
