Wittke, Mr./Mrs. August Sr. (60th - 21 Aug. 1937)

Mr. and Mrs. August Wittke, Sr., who recently went to West Allis to live with their daughter, Mrs. Fred Wilms, celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of their marriage, Aug. 21, at the Wilms home.

Mr. and Mrs. Wittke, who come from Germany, were married in Champaign County, Ill., Aug. 21, 1877, Mrs. Wittke’s maiden name being Ernestine Brandt. They came to Clark County 42 years ago and carried on farms in Pine Valley until 1931 when their farm home burned and they moved to Neillsville, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. Wittke are the parents of seven children, six of whom survive: August Wittke, Jr., York; Ferdinand Wittke, Pine Valley; Emma, Mrs. Gus Reichert, West Allis; Henry Wittke, Neillsville; Herman Wittke, Wes Allis; Edna, Mrs. Wilms, West Allis; also 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
