Lyons, Mary (1834 - 8 JAN 1915)

Mayor J.E. Lyons was called to Fond du Lac Co. last Thursday by the serious illness of his mother. She passed away Friday evening. The following notice of her death is taken from the Fond du Lac Reporter:

"Mrs. Mary Lyons, age 80, wife of Peter Lyons, died at the family residence in Lemartine after a severe illness. Besides a widower, she leaves one daughter, Mrs. M. Murphy of Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis., and two sons, J.E. Lyons of Colby and Frank Lyons of this city. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lyons was born in Ireland, but came to America from Scotland, coming directly to Fond du Lac Co., and settling at Byron, where she lived until twenty-eight years ago, when the family moved to Lemartine. The funeral was held at 9:30 Monday morning from the residence and at 10 from St. John’s Catholic Church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The pallbearers were: Dan Sullivan, Jacob Fisher, George Fisher, Joseph Schaefer, Samuel Dannais and John Kettenhoven. The funeral was largely attended and floral offerings were beautiful. The Altar Society of St. John’s Church attended the services in a body.
